"The Dawn of a new day"

I woke up on Oct 11th after little sleep but I didn’t mind, I knew what the day meant. It was the dawn of a new day for YUCA, a turning point in our career – a launch pad for greater things!
A day when the world got to hear and experience what our heart and souls had been pouring into over the last months. It was a monumental day for us and it couldn’t have taken place in a better location. So on Oct 11th 2013, on our tour in Japan, with huge amounts of pride & joy, we released our brand new album “Rebuilding the fallen empire” to the world!
I’ll never forget that feeling on walking out of the room in the cabin we were staying in and onto the porch. Out came Dave and Andy with coffee in hand and we all sat down trying to hide from the sun. It was only about 7am and already about 28 degrees in the shade. We all knew what day it was and how much it meant to each one of us. We’d been waiting for this day for quite some time now. The amount of hard work, effort, strain, tears, laughter, time and team work it took to get to this place was summed up with proud, emotional and honored silence. It was awesome! I could see it on Andy and Dave’s faces that they were just as excited and proud as me. There were no words we could have said that morning to describe the honor we felt.
I remember when I was younger seeing an elderly couple sitting in a coffee shop having coffee but not saying a word to each other. I thought to myself “I don’t ever want to get to a place where I’m like them. Sitting across from someone you care about and not having anything to say”. I was so ignorant and so wrong! They were so genuinely connected that they didn’t have to say anything to know how deep their love, respect and honor went for each other. I can’t believe that I ever thought that way and judged that couple. That morning I sat with two of my best friends, my band mates, and we sat in silence – it was the most incredible way to launch this new album and this tour in Japan!
It was now about 8am and the sun crept out from the shade of the palm tree and hit us in full force. We knew it was time to get rolling. We had photo-shoots, interviews and videos scheduled for that day so we got changed and hit the beach. The first video of the day was one of my favorites we have ever filmed. We got to film our CD Release Video announcing to the world “Rebuilding the fallen empire” was now available….and we got to do it on one of the greatest beaches I have ever been on in my life!
The buzz from knowing we were launching our album was flowing thru our veins like lightning – it was such a high and so hard to contain. When I think back to that day it was such a blur. Each one of us had our emotions running high but in such a good way – it was awesome. It was a celebration and man did we celebrate.
Thanks to you all (whether you’re a brand new fan or have been a YUCA Soldier for quite some time) for going out, supporting us and buying our new album. We wouldn’t be able to live our dream, release new music to you and perform around the world if it wasn’t for you.
